BLOG RETURN ANNOUNCEMENT – JULY 1ST

The Blogs Are Back!

Starting Monday, July 1st with WrestleMentary!

When I originally announced this current Blog Hiatus, I said ALL my Blogs would return starting July 1st with WrestleMentary. Then, a few weeks later I mentioned pushing that return back to my Birthday, July 27th. Well, I’m changing that again and going back to the original plan: July 1st

As of Monday, July 1st the Blogs will return from Hiatus starting with Wrestlementary.

From there all the Blogs (except Wrestlementary) will return on the originally planned 2019 Monthly Schedule.

  • Wednesday, 7/3 – THE BURNING MIND
  • Thursday, 7/11 – THIS IS A TRUE STORY
  • Friday, 7/19 – WHAT I WATCH I REVIEW
  • Sunday, 7/28 – RAW FLESH
  • Wednesday, 7/31 – STATE OF THE MASTER

There is no set posting schedule for Wrestlementary as their will be more than one monthly post. So the schedule will be more random. There will however be regular WWE Coverage focused around the time of PPVs or the dreaded “Super Shows.”

As for the rest of the year, the Blogs should follow the following schedule. Though, there may be times I post a little more often.

POSTING SCHEDULE – REMAINDER OF 2019

  • 1ST Wednesday of each Month – THE BURNING MIND
  • 2ND Thursday of each Month – THIS IS A TRUE STORY
  • 3RD Friday of each Month – WHAT I WATCH I REVIEW
  • 4TH Sunday of each Month – RAW FLESH
  • Last Day of each Month – STATE OF THE MASTER
  • WrestleMentary: Random Posts

See you July 1st,

The State of the Master April 2019

My state write now is what I have come to refer to as GFE. And that doesn’t stand for Girlfriend Experience. (Maybe Girlfriendless Experience).

No, GFE stands for:

GOOD. Because my life is generally good, despite the issues and people that try and tear me down. And I try and keep a good attitude and outlook and stay positive. It doesn’t always work, but I try.

FRUSTATING. Because I keep trying to move forward, but I have one lingering issue that keep holding me back. Or at least putting a road black on my path. Also, frustrating because of all the negative people in life that keep just trying to tear things down, people I want nothing to do with, but constantly keep forcing themselves into my life. People who think they know me, but know nothing about me.

EXCRUCIATING: Because of my shoulder and the constant, excruciating pain. I posted a piece on Facebook detailing it, but here’s the short version. I have tendopathy and a torn tendon in my right shoulder, which causes me almost constant excruciating pain, which often leads to my right hand going numb. All any Doctors want to do to this at this point is Cortisone and painkillers. None of which work.

I started this year with great plans, to get back to work on projects and even some stuff I wanted to post to be Blogs written ahead of time.

Well, I started off good, but didn’t continue good . . .

The main reason for this is that I didn’t do as much writing as I wanted. The main reason for that is my shoulder. Just to type is often painful.

I’m a little pissed at my shoulder, my lack of proper medical care and at myself.

Myself, because I’ve allowed this to stop me. At times I don’t have a choice, but other times I just don’t do things (such as writing - for my blog, my projects; working out; walking my dog), going into a funk. I’m getting out of this NOW.

I’ve told myself this before: To focus better and not let things get to me, unless I have little choice.

Effective immediately I’m in going into Focus Mode and Catch Up Mode. I have to do this.

Therefore, all my Blogs are officially suspended until July 1st.

This catch up period of mine started on Sunday April 14, 2019, and gives me 11 weeks to do what I want.

This is something I have to do, for myself and to move forward.

I need to live up to being Ace Masters.

Anything less is unacceptable.

Ace Masters.

P.S.
My Next State of the Master will come on Sunday, June 30th

The State of Wrestlementary for 2019

Well, well, well . . . I have to admit that for 2018 Wrestlementary was posted on a Brock Lesnar like Schedule, and was a good as a Lesnar Main Event.

Yep, I went there.

Once again, I had big plans for Wrestlementary and once again it just didn’t happen. A combination of too many things going on, and sorta flaming out with trying to do too much. It’s just the truth, no use hiding it.

My effort on Wrestlementary this year will be much different. As I am making some changes.

I will return to writing my Commentary on RAW and SMACKDOWN LIVE, and will try to get my thoughts on Ring Warriors, Championship Wrestling From Arizona, IMPACT, Major League Wrestling, Lucha Underground and Ring of Honor done as well. I will also try and comment and what shows I watch on FITE, when I can watch them.

As of right now (January 1st) all my Wrestlementary Commentary will be done on a monthly schedule, this will make it a far easier schedule for me to keep to. This doesn’t mean one piece per month, but one piece per month on each of the above listed Promotions. Or so I will Try.

MY PLANNED MONTHLY SCHEDULE

Championship Wrestling From Arizona
The monthly commentary will be posted on the first Saturday of each Month.

IMPACT
The monthly commentary will be posted on the Friday before the PPV, with the PPV Preview and Predictions posted the Saturday before.

LUCHA UNDERGROUND
The monthly commentary will be post the first Friday of each Month.

MAJOR LEAGUE WRESTLING
The monthly commentary will be post the first Thursday of each Month.

RING OF HONOR
The monthly Commentary will be posted on the Friday before the PPV, with the PPV Preview and Prediction post the Saturday before.

RING WARRIORS
The monthly commentary will be posted the first Tuesday of each Month.

WWE
The monthly pieces commentating on the last months’ worth of WWE Broadcasts will go up on the Wednesday (RAW), Thursday (SD LIVE); and Friday (NXT, NXT UK, 205 Live) before the WWE Pay-Per-View (and NXT’s Takeover.)

Each Main Roster PPV Preview will be up that Saturday Night before, with NXT Takeover on Fridays.

For the most part expect these to start in February – as I am behind on many of these promotions and am going to start fresh as of Today and be current.

Except for the WWE, as I and the crew (Dave and Chris) WILL be in attendance at NXT Takeover and The Royal Rumble! So expect my firsthand account of both shows!

And, with this New Year now upon us, expect my Best of 2018 sometime in the next week or two – and some may surprise you.

I will also return to writing about each and every Arizona Wrestling Federation show I attend, and apologize for not doing so this past year.

In fact I will write Commentary on all Local Shows I attend.

Last year I started doing The Best Wrestlers You (MAY) Never Have Heard Of (with pieces on Chris Evans, Johnny Saovi and Alexander Hammerstone). I will continue doing these this year, with at least one a month.

So, basically, that is the State of Wrestlementary – I will return to doing my Commentary (it is called WrestleMENTARY after all), and watch and post as much as I can and hopefully keep to everything.

If not, forgive.

Now HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!

And something more important – It’s Time for SMACKDOWN LIVE!!

2018 End of the Year State of the Master!!!

Ladies and Gentlemen, the end of 2018 is upon us and the beginning of 2019 is looming. As I sit down and write this 2018 End of Year State of the Master, I am suddenly struck by a thought – a very relevant and somewhat odd thought:

The Far off Year of 2020 hangs over us like the Sword of Damocles.

It only just dawned on me the era we are about to enter. All the stories I grew up on that took place in the Far Off World of 2020: Comics, films, TV, Prose Short Stories and Novels (IRON MAN 2020 anyone?). Some showcased a beautiful vision of a peaceful world, others a post-apocalyptic nuclear nightmare, while many others used it as a backdrop for any number of types of stories.

My point is in my childhood the year 2001 was far off, 2020 was almost too much to consider. I never even consider that I would live to see 2020, considering it was fodder for so many sci-fi stories and seemed so far into the future, but here we all are: 2020 is only a little over 365 days away.

What once was a far off future time, is soon to be the here and now.

I, for one, am look forwarding to it.

That was just a thought – a tangent I am known for going off on once in a while. So, back to 2018.

For the most part 2018 could be consider a good year – Hey I made it through it!

But it was also a mixed year at best – another year that derailed. Oh, the first half was great, but once July HIT . . . Whoa.

Yeah EVERYTHING that could go wrong went wrong. Murphy’s Law on steroids . . .
What’s everything? I’ve give a small list:
Air Conditioner; Clothes Washer, Dryer; Plumbing; Car; ME

Yep, you name it, if it could breakdown it did, to the tune of lots of $$$.

If you’re eagled eye you’ve no doubt noticed the last thing that broke down: ME.

This is not Hyperbole here, in a way I actually did break down. And I don’t mean break down as in losing my focus on projects and getting a little stressed with Murphy’s Law in late 2018 – though that did happen.

I don’t mean not posting on my blogs and putting them on hiatus – which I did.
The second half of this year had a lot coming at me, so the blogs and my projects were all put on hold to deal with them. These are typical household stuff – but all at ONCE? Come on.

They were also put on hold to deal with ME. I am talking about this: On the afternoon of Wednesday, October 31 – Halloween – I collapsed and was taken to the Hospital. A fine hospital with a good staff and Halloween Spirit that sort freaked me out when I woke out (This will be written about in the first This Is A True Story blog in 2019).

Even though I felt fine up to that day, my mother didn’t think I look good. Well, she was right! Walking Pneumonia was the culprit and I spent the next week on Meds.
Good news is that I am fine, fully recovered and good to good.

Bad News is this: I Saw a new Doctor on that Monday – who failed to check me out properly. I am failing to ever see him again.

Since then, I have been focusing on getting things straighten out – they are now – and getting ready and planning for 2019.

2019 is going to be a Great Year – and I will make it that way. Having the Pneumonia was a bit of a wakeup call – I got myself straighten out and actual have started getting my focus and mojo going again.

2018 is ending nicely.

2019 is going to start with a Bang.

And keep on going.

For the first time in a long time, and after a lot of introspection, I feel like myself again.

In 2019 it is time to turn anything Negative into a Positive.

It’s also time to put my personal motto back into effect:
I NEVER LOSE, I NEVER FAIL, I NEVER FALTER
I LEARN, I EVOLE, I GROW STRONGER

State of the Master - Blogs Hiatus

State of the Master

Well, I’ve said this before, I will say it again: HERE WE GO AGAIN.

In August I put out a Blog Statement announcing I was putting my Blogs to a Monthly Schedule for the remainder of 2018 – excluding Raw Flesh.

The plan was to put them back on track on 2019.

Not long after posting that, after much consideration, I decided to put all Blogs, including RAW FLESH, on hiatus until 2019.

This was supposed to have been announced weeks ago, but didn’t happened because I was sick and spent Halloween in the hospital with pneumonia. Getting better was a more of a priority then posting.

In the New Year, the Blogs will return starting from scratch. I need to prioritize certain things and this is the best decision at the moment – and will be better for the Blogs in the long run.

Upon their return The Burning Mind, This Is A True Story, What I Watch I Review and Raw Flesh will be posted on a Monthly Basis. As the year progresses and things play out I may post more often, perhaps even moving back to a bi-weekly or weekly schedule.

Right now, a monthly schedule will be best.

I will however return to doing the Burning Mind weekly Reviews each Saturday.

Wrestlementary will be handled differently – an actual format for Wrestlementary will be figured out and announced later.

All Blogs Will Return with ‘State of’ initial posts on:

  • Monday, December 31st – State of the Master
  • Tuesday, January 1st – Wrestlementary
  • Wednesday, January 2nd – The Burning Mind
  • Thursday, January 3rd – This Is A True Story
  • Friday, January 4th – What I Watch I Review
  • Sunday, January 6th – Raw Flesh

Then, they will resume being posted on what is (for now) planned as the regular Schedule:

  • The Burning Mind – Wednesday, January 9th; Then the FIRST Wednesday of Each Month
  • This Is A True Story – Thursday, January 17; Then the SECOND Thursday of Each Month
  • What I Watch I Review – Friday, January 25; Then the THIRD Friday of Each Month
  • Raw Flesh – Sunday, January 27th, Then the FOURTH Sunday of Each Month
  • State of the Master – The Last Day of Each Month
  • Wrestlementary – TBA

So, for January expect two posts per Blog, then monthly after that. With Wrestlementary’s schedule to come.

I will still be making periodical postings to Facebook and Twitter with updates as we close in on the New Year.

Thanks.

Ace Masters.

State of the Master: A Blog Statement

Sometimes hard decisions need to be made. Sometimes what we think are hard decisions aren’t, we just don’t like them. Sometimes I get so backed up on projects and things to do I won’t admit that I need to back off – failure in a way.

Sometimes we can be our own worst enemies.

I’ve written on this before in my State of the Master Blog a few times. I usually don’t open my heart out online – but the reason I am doing so right now is I do know that my Blogs do have some followers – Especially Wrestlementary and RAW FLESH.

While 2018 has been a freaking great year, I haven’t done so great on my projects. Yeah, I’ve made great strides on getting back into my writing, but haven’t really finished much. I have defiantly been very lackluster on my Blogs.

Few and far between have been my Blog posts – even when I have claimed “This time” will be a ‘real’ return to blogging – I’ve not done it to any real degree.

Recently I’ve gotten somewhat back on track, but not enough.

So, long story short – I am announcing a change to my Blogs effective immediately:
The Burning Mind, This is a True Story, What I Watch I Review and Wrestlementary will be going monthly for the remainder of 2018, starting September. In December I will decide whether to keep the Blogs monthly, or try going back to the originally planned schedules.

Trying to do all these weekly – while writing other projects – is a little much at the moment. That is one big failing of mine – trying to do everything at one time.

So, my Blogging Schedule will be as follows:

This is a True Story – Monthly – The First Thursday of each month.

What I Watch I Review – Monthly – The Second Friday of each month.

The Burning Mind – Monthly – The Fourth Wednesday of each Month

However, I do plan on doing my weekly comic book reviews.

Wrestlementary – Monthly – This will be handled a little differently. For the remainder of this year I will focus on the Main Roster WWE, as I am behind on other promotions, and NXT.

The monthly format for Wrestlementary will be this: On the Thursday before each PPV I will post a monthly RAW and Smackdown Live piece discussing the happenings of the last month leading into the PPV. Friday I will preview the PPV with a breakdown of the Build to it, and the matches on the Card. Saturday I will post my official predictions.

The following Wednesday I will post my thoughts on the PPV and the Fallout.

I plan on being up-to-date on other wrestling shows I am behind on and discussing them again in the New Year.

Now, my final Blog: The serialized ‘Zombie’ story RAW FLESH.

This will NOT be effected by any changes. It will continue weekly as planned.

As I wrote above I am putting this out there because I do know people follow my Blogs, and I want to give them a heads up (this time).

Making this change is a bit of a hard decision, because I want to keep ALL them going weekly. A big part of me also wants to try and write and post every single planned blog posting I have missed. But this is the right decision right now.

This is also going to allow me to get other non-writing things down as well, and some personal and work related issues out of the way without putting the stress on myself to get these done and then not doing them.

This is part of what I have talked about in my State of the Master Blogs: making positive changes/moves in my life and stop being my own worst enemy.

Later,

Ace.

State of the Master - July 30, 2018: FRUSTRATED!

My State this time around is more FRUSTRATED than anything. I had planned to get stuff done this month, streamline things, making some changes and write a good State of the Master this time around.

Maybe even more than one for the month.

Well, very little of that happened – I did get a lot written for Raw Flesh – but other stuff not so much. It’s really frustrating, as I had announced and planned that July, my birth month, would in effect by my Re-Birth.

Somehow along the way I got stuck in the Birth Canal!

I am a firm believer that one can often hold themselves back – and I know I have done that – I am also a firm believer that other people – knowingly or not – can affect one’s life negatively and hold one back from moving forward.

One of the major things I have been doing this year is cutting out the negative people from my life. The biggest and worse of these negative people are long gone fortunately. Some people, unfortunately, stick around like flies – unable or unwilling to understand that they are not wanted.

People sometimes can be a negative effect on one’s life without even trying, which brings me to now. The first week or so was going good and then things started to get sidetrack on Wednesday, July 11th. That was the day the home phone rang and my mom answered due to it being someone we know – bad news, her neighbor – someone else we know – fell.

This 82- year old woman who refuses help, doesn’t want anyone around her and refuses to have a Life Alert fell, claims she was laying there for 12 hours, and wouldn’t call 911. Nope. She called her neighbor, 87, to help her. The neighbor call 911.

Long story short, the woman who fell has been in the hospital and rehab for 16 days with a fractured hip. Since she lives in the Sun City Retirement community and no one there likes or will help her because of her attitude – guess who’s doing it?

Well, I did a little running around for her, and my Mom has tried to help with things, but the part that has really sent things spiral down is her Boston Terrier . . .  excuse me the Boston Terrible also known as just THE TERROR.

For the last fifteen days I have been dog sitting a Boston Terror . . . and it has been a terror of an experience. This little terror is a Five year old, defiant, vicious little XXX that has never been trained and has been allowed to have the run of everything in the lady’s house and never disciplined.

It pees and poops inside her house (it’s a pigsty) and it has continued that behavior here.

This dog doesn’t know basic commands, goes to the bathroom inside my house, will not leave my dog alone and turns if I (or my mom) tries to discipline her. She’s even bit me on my hand, and ruined some of my shoes.

This unwanted house guest has thrown everything into disarray. I spent more time trying to discipline and train the little XXX then doing anything else – especially the writing I had planned to get done!

This feels like an excuse, and partially probably is, but it is hard to try and get anything done when I spend 99% of my time trying to keep this little XXX under control.

The good news is, as of this writing, the lady is out of the hospital and the little XXX is out of my hair.

Part of this is also my fault, I’ve allowed this crap to get to me. I’ve had a hard enough time trying to focus and keep on what I need to do without havening to deal with other people’s problems or fix their mistakes.

Ok, that’s off my chest – thanks for listening.

This is one of the things I need to change and am working on. Not letting things get to me and affect me negatively. As I have all too often over the last few years.

Now, even though I am behind – again – my plan is to moved forward in August and do what I had planned for July – and not let things get in the way! I need to stop letting things STOP ME!

The Re Launch of my blogs will now happen in August, starting on Wednesday, August 1 with WHY COMICS at the Burning Mind Blog, and will go forward to all my Blogs from there.

This probably feels like a bitch blog, but I needed to vent. I also believe I owed a reason for the lack of blogging to the people who do follow my blogs.

Ace Masters.

Sunday, July 1, 2018

Well, Hello and welcome to the first of July!

The month I mentioned in my last (and only of the year) State of the Master Blog that I would be reborn. I plan on living up to that.

A good first start is this post is up, on time, on the 1st of the month. A second good sign is the upcoming first story post to RAW FLESH in a few months – on time as well.

I mentioned in my last State of the Master that two important changes I am working on are focusing on projects and the right things, and not trying to get everything done at one time.

Well the good news is that I have succeed on focusing, I’ve streamlined a lot and on now focusing on the priority projects. On life in general I’m doing the same, focusing on the good things, and cutting out the negative. 

Where I have had less success, but not failure, is in the idea of not trying to do everything at one time. I’m still trying to get too many things done at the same time, and am working to break this habit.

Because I have taken specific steps I achieved most of what I wanted to do in June projects wise and have set up the second half of 2018 for reaching more goals than I did in the first half.

As I said – REBORN.

My only real concern is my nagging skin infection – I have now seen a specialist who has given me a different diagnosis then my primary Doctor – and who echoed something the Pharmacist mentioned to me – that the steroids my Doctor put me on only made things worse.

Great.

But I’ve been through worse.

In another note July is a special month – on the 27th I celebrate my Birthday! Old enough to know better, and NOT CARE!

Okay, that’s it for now. I am hoping next month to have a little more to say and some info on projects.

Later

Ace.

Sunday, June 3, 2018

This is my First State of the Master Blog for the year of 2018! Only five months in!

So far, this year’s mostly been good, but also has been a rollercoaster.

In life and in my many projects I am caught up on some things and way behind on many others. Way behind.

I kept meaning to write and post a State of the Master piece monthly as originally planned, but there has always been one problem: As much as I love to write, I hate writing about myself. I am my least favorite subject to write about. That’s one reason I have never kept a journal.

Though this blog was never 100% planned to be about me. A mixture of me, my projects and my ongoing blogs. Truly my attempt to keep, or make myself, more active on Social Media. Mostly a fail there: 

Three things have prompted me to sit down and right this piece: Seeing a new Doctor, reconnecting with a few people and reconnecting with old friends I haven’t seen in years.

The common thread? My Aneurysm. (Though I do wish it wasn’t.)

With the Doctor, I’ve known him for a while, he is my mother’s Doctor, but I have only just started seeing him. Since it was my first visit with him, he went through my medical history, focusing on the Aneurysm for obvious reason.

With a few people I have ran into and reconnected with (acquaintances and former co-workers), that I haven’t seen in while, but knew about the Aneurysm, the Aneurysm became the first topic of conversation.

Same with three old friends I have somehow ran into in May: one an old girlfriend, another my best friend from college. None knew about the Aneurysm, but it became a topic anyway – along with my father’s death (it has been a long time since I had seen these friends.)

I am very glad to reconnect with a few of these people. I don’t mind talking about the Aneurysm, my father’s death not so much.

But this is what prompted me to write this State of the Master for 2018 finally!

I am going to touch on a few topics here: Me, because so many people asked about me; Changes I am working on personally and Projects.

First off, I want to thank everyone I know, and especially Facebook friends and twitter followers I don’t know, for showing care and asking me how I am doing. At least once or twice a week I get a message from someone I have never meet in person, who asks how I am doing in relation to the Aneurysm. For that, again, Thank You. Sorry to anyone I failed to respond to.

The answer to how I am doing in relation to the Aneurysm? Great!

That is not even my answer! It is the answer from the Doctor, whose name you wouldn’t believe, who did my last checkup and helped perform my surgery. Doctor SunnShine told me everything is great, there’s been no growth in the Aneurysm area, the repairs and healing of the blood vessel are great and I don’t need another checkup for three years.

I still have his voicemail on my phone. 

My health is excellent, despite being a little sick in January (which put me behind on writing) and fighting an infection right now.

Never believe anyone when they say All Natural products can’t affect you negatively – and many people do say that. I am currently on some heavy duties meds to fight an infection caused by a reaction to a new All Natural soap I started using.

Hypoallergenic my ass. An ingredient in this soap can cause Contact Dermitis – which it did, along with constant itching, burning, boils, rash and finally full bore infection. Bad news I have been dealing with this for the last few weeks.

Lastly, with the Great all clear and my tendon shoulder injury finally getting better, I have finally started and kept to a workout routine for more than a week. Since the Aneurysm, I limited my exercising and weightlifting by Doctor’s order for the first two years, then just got lazy.

My Six Pack is a thing of the past, and hopefully will be a thing of the future again. Current goals are to drop weight, tone up, then bulk back up. I use to go about 235 to 240 with about 20 inch biceps and around 15% body fat. Right now, around 250, higher body fat and 17 inch biceps. That needs to change.
Getting into better shape is not the only change I am working on. There’s ME as well.

I’m someone that always strives to be better – not just at doing things, but at being. As in being a better person.

There are things I am working on changing about myself this year – and I am really trying. Many of these are things I have become lazidasical about over the last few years, and not just since the Aneurysm.

Some things I am working on are just me: personality wise, mood wise . . . attitude wise. Certain quirks that I know are iffy at best and I want to change, but it takes time.

Other things I want to change are such things as: priorities, focus, working on projects, getting things back on track and getting things done. Being more reliable.

There was a time when I was “Mister Get it Done.” There was no question about, I got things done, and I had the drive, motivation and passion to do things, especially when it came to my one true love – WRITING.

The Aneurysm had no effects on that. But my father’s death did. After he died I started slacking off, just didn’t feel like doing things. I didn’t deliver articles on time for the Burning Mind when it was at Comic’s Bulletin. I didn’t follow up on opportunities like I should have.

Yes, I still got stuff done - a couple of short films, Web Series, short stories – but not as Go To as I was. My Dad had been a big part of many of my projects, especially Masterpiece Comics.

I just slacked off, I know many people would disagree, but I know how I was before and how I became.
Then the Aneurysm hit and I allowed myself to slack even more.

That is one of my biggest changes I am working on: To Refocus on things. To being the guy that gets things done. Not just on time, but ahead of time. Being the guy that gets things done others don’t.

So, here is the long and short of it. Over the last few years I know I have done and achieved some things. I also know I could have done so much MORE.

I had a lot I want to get done in the first half of 2018, and maybe done around 40% of it. Mostly because of a bad habit I have of trying to get EVERYTHING done at the same time. That is part of what my refocus needs to be: Prioritizing and focusing on getting projects done one or two at a time, not ALL of them at one time.

I took May off from any projects to just relax, look over all my plans and decided on what needs to be done now, and what can wait.

In June I am going to prep for the second half of 2018. I have chosen to focus on my Blogs (BURNING MIIND, RAW FLESH, THIS IS A TRUE STORY, WHAT I WATCH I REVIEW and WRESTLEMENTARY) as continuing projects and four other writing projects I will work on one-at-a-time until each is finished or as near to finished as it can be.

It may sound big headed, but I know that at 43 I am a more mature and better person then the hothead I use to be. I also know that hothead was more driven. It’s time for me to combine those two natures NOW.

I have always lived by this motto:

I NEVER FALTER, I NEVER FAIL, I NEVER LOSE
I LEARN, I EVOLVE, I GROW STRONG

It’s time to start living that what again.

JULY 1ST – I will be reborn.

State of The Master - August 2017

Hello All – and by All I mean Friends and All Others.

Well, it has been a while since I wrote a State of the Master, in fact this the first of the year! I figure it’s about time, considering I have received a lot of Happy Birthdays this past week (Wonder Why 😋?!), and people asking me how I am doing.

First, thank you for the Happy Birthdays! If I haven’t responded to you, sorry. I Will.
As for how I am doing? The Answer: GREAT! Really.

I’m doing great and 2017 has been a great year so far and the rest is shaping up nicely.

This past January marked three years since my Anyersum, except for yearly – and soon to be bi-yearly – checkups, it is mostly a non-issue. The only other issue I have had, an injured shoulder, is finally mending as well!

All in All I am doing great. Except in one area where I have been slacking off: PROJECTS!

Especially my Blogs. I haven’t written much for This Is A True Story, What I Watch I Review or WrestleMentary in the last few weeks, and barely at all for the Burning Mind. I am looking to change that this month and get all my blogs back up and running. I am not going to try and get caught up with lost posts, just start from scratch.

In truth I haven’t done much writing at all. Going forward (for the remainder of 2017 at least) I am going to focus on Articles, Freelancer Writing and my poetry. I am also prepping some comic book projects for submission soon.

In addition I am back to working on a HUSH HUSH Project that I hope will be making round in 2018.

Well I think that is all for now. I won’t take so long to write again. (I think. Maybe.)

Ace.

State Of The Master - December 2016

Hello All,

The first thing I want to do now is be a little Stereotypical:

Merry Christmas to everyone.
And Happy Hanukkah to my Jewish friends.

Even though I am not religious, don’t celebrate or like Christmas, I hope others have a safe and happy holidays.

Myself I am looking forward to the New Year. Right now I can’t do much, writing wise. Because of Christmas film studios, publishers, magazines and most places I usually deal – or try to deal – with shut down submissions and acquisitions. So it’s a no go time for me. :-(

In terms of my ‘day job’ (aka how I pay my bills for now), this is the true busy time of the year for myself and my mother and our work. My schedule is going to be in overdrive for the next few weeks.

Right now, I have made the decision to put my blogs on hold for December, even though I just caught up on all of them.

What I Watch I Review, Burning Mind and This Is A True Story will return in January, kicking off the New Year and maybe new formats and schedules.

For Wrestlementary, I will post a Year End piece sometime after Christmas. Other than that, it will return with a new format in January as well.

I am truly looking forward to 2017 and finally going hard into my writing, publishing and filmmaking again. My main focus will be writing, but I will be looking to raise funds for comic projects, feature films and hope to shoot a short film in the second half of 2017.

Well, here is to ending 2016 soon on a good note and start 2017 with a bang!

State of the Master - 11/27/2016

This is probably going to be a very brief State of the Master, given that I really one have one thing to say.

I am caught up on all my blogs! My goal this month was to get completely caught up on Burning Mind, This is a True Story and What I Watch I Review, not to mention Wrestlementary, and I have done just that.

I am still posting on Burning Mind through Wednesday, but am basically done.

Other than that, I have been working on side projects I hope to have done soon.

On a personal level, things are really good. My little health scare a few months ago is non-existence and I am suffering no ill effect from my brain aneurysm.

For all those who ask me about that, I am good. Thank you.

Right now I am turning my attention to 2017 and gearing up for what I want to accomplish this coming year.

Later Ace.

STATE OF THE MASTER 11/13/2016

Well, look at this a State of the Master Blog right on time! Can you believe it? I barely can. ;-)

So far, November is going along very smooth, and life is good.

Why? Because I am getting things done. I laid out a schedule for myself and laid it to bare in the last ‘State of’ blog . . . and I have kept to it!

Wrestlementary is caught up, and What I Watch I Review is on track – This is A True Story is coming up, with Burning Mind to follow.

My week long catch-up for What I Watch I Review – posting daily – is done. What I Watch I Review is almost caught up. This week I will post the last of my catch up reviews on Wednesday, Thursday and What I Watch I Review’s normal day Friday. With this, What I Watch I Review will be completely caught up!

Starting this week (today in fact) my focus turns to This is A True Story through the 19th. To be honest though, I didn’t realize how far behind I was on This Is A True Story, so blogs on that will continue daily or bi-daily well into December to get caught up. The same goes for The Burning Mind, once I start posting those on the 20th.

This may not mean a whole lot to anyone, but it does to me. Getting back on track and getting these caught up is good for my psyche . . . I’m finally getting back into writing, and more will come from that.

Later.

STATE OF THE MASTER - OCTOBER 2016

It has been a while since I posted a State of the Master blog, so here we go.

Well, it is one day till Halloween (my favorite ‘Holiday’) and the next to last day of October.

October . . . October. A very hectic and busy month for me . . . but an exceptionally good one.

I finally got the house renovations done my mother asked me to do (both bathrooms), made headway on writing projects, attended five (5) wrestling events, including a Smackdown show, and made a new close personal friend.

I will write about the wrestling shows for upcoming Wrestlementary Blog posts, and will talk more about my new close personal friend in a This Is A True Story blog post. But, I do want to mention something here though.

This was the highlight on the month; meeting my new close personal friend: Jamilyn.
My business part and best friend Dave and I first meet when he approached me about being in a scene for a film he was making. It was to be with an actress named Jamilyn. Dave and I went on to make other films, but this one has yet to materialize. For the last few years Dave has told me about Jamilyn (and her about me).

About two weeks ago she was here in town and we finally meet. There is no doubt that she is a lady (in the truest sense of that word), and a kind and gentle soul. The event we attended that evening was terrible, but the night was good.

I’ll discuss the event (Extreme Midget Wrestling) and the night in more detail in upcoming blogs.

That was October. November is coming in two days. And speaking of Blogs, my blogs are going to be my focus for November. Big surprise that I am behind on my blogs, again. By the end of November I should be caught up though.

I plan on posting all previous blogs that were supposed to be posted by the end of this month. The idea is to focus on one blog per week – posting daily.

WRESTLEMENTARY
Nov 1 – 5: Wrestlementary is going to be the first focus, posting my EOM and thoughts on recent indie events.

WHAT I WATCH I REVIEW
Nov 6 – 12: For this week I will post one movie review a day.

THIS IS A TRUE STORY
Nov 13 – 19: True Stories from my life coming daily for this week.

BURING MIND
Nov 20 – 30: This is the big bad I am behind on. To that end it gets the most time: 11 days, 11 Burning Mind Reviews.

I will have my next State of the Master up in two weeks. I hope at that time I can write that I have kept to this schedule. Even more so I hope to say I am having another good month.

Hope all is well, with all of you.

Later,
Ace.

State of the Master 7/3/2016

Hello All,

Well, this has been one Hell of a great year so far!

No, I haven’t gotten quite the amount of stuff I wanted to get done, done, but that is all good. The stuff I have done and what I have achieved made up for it.

I have been really quiet on my Blogs and Social Media. In fact I haven’t posted for almost three months. This time though it is for very good reasons.

Since February I have gotten twenty-one (that is 21) straight short stories picked up by different magazines and anthologies across the globe (Included France and Russia). I have also gotten interest in a film-related book proposal of mine from a British publisher.

This stuff took precedent over the Blogs because I had to do requested re-writes on stories and write samples chapters requested by the publisher. These all took time and I had deadlines. As of this week, I have meet all those deadlines.

In addition to all this writing, I have also spent time indulging in my major hobbies: comics, movies and pro wrestling!

Speaking of those hobbies, a few words on my blogs are needed here. In the past I would try and get caught up. I don’t plan to do that now. My blogs with return in July, but with a more reasonable schedule that I can manage with my life and my writing becoming more active at this moment.

No major changes will be made to BURNING MIND, THIS IS A TRUE STORY or WHAT I WATCH I REVIEW. However Wrestlementary will be going to a monthly blog. I will write monthly pieces covering WWE, NXT, TNA, Lucha Underground and the local AWF. I will write other pieces as I see fit. I will post more details on the Wrestlementary Blog tomorrow, during Monday Night Raw.

Life is Good.

State of the Master 3/26/2016

First thing first, I am okay. I’ve had a people few message me asking that since I have been quite the last few weeks.

Secondly, I was pleasantly surprised that I received a few messages asking about missed blogs. That made me feel good.

Normally I would post my State of the Master Blog on Sundays, but I am posting this early because I hope to do a little catch up starting Sunday.

First, I want to lay out why I have been quite. The last few weeks have been a very hectic, filled with crap and frankly stressfully to the point of making me pissy. Yes, I wrote pissy. Issues have ranged from two plumbing leaks in the house (Kitchen and Bathroom), people (clients) expecting way too much and my mom still being sick – and many people diagnosing what it going on with her.

The most important of these things is my mother, of course. She is over her bout with Bronchitis, but is still having a bad cough. For the most part it seems to be allergies, but I am trying to get her to see the doctor and at least get x-rays. Her regular doctor this time, not his fellow doctor in the practice that gave her medicine she should never have been on.

That is part of the problem with our clients. Many are diagnosing my mother with everything from a collapse lung, empahzuema and even the Zeka Virus! Idiots. Some are even given her THEIR prescription meds and claiming they will make her better. My mother is too smart to actually take the meds, fortunately.

These fools could kill my mother as they have no idea of her medical history or what meds she is on regularly. I do. At least one the meds a client tried to get her to take has a severe reaction when combined with one of my mom’s meds. It’s called DEATH!

The other issues that has lasted a few weeks is leaks in the house. A small leak in the kitchen and a massive leak in the bathroom. Fortunately both leaks were in the drainpipe, so as long as we didn’t use the sinks all was good. Bad news is that the insurance denied coverage on both leaks.

One plumber tried to scam my mom for two grand, even going so far as to ask what I had to do with anything and why I was even at the house. Of course, I kicked his ass out. Along with the help of one of our clients, I ended up fixing both leaks myself. And reinjuring my shoulder in the process.

One thing that really pisses me off, is people offering my time to other people and telling them I will do things for them - without me ever knowing. I got a call two weeks ago from a woman I had never meet demanding to know where I was. Turns out one of our clients told her I would be over to her house to do work for her. Yet, no one told me, and I never agreed to anything. Because of two clients, I have had to deal with this issue a lot lately.

Some of these people have even gone to the HOA and tried to get me pulled as a vendor, claiming I am not doing the work. I had to, and did, prove that I never knew anything about these ‘gigs’ and three of the people who made complaints, admitted they had never talked to me.

The good news is that all this crap is now cleared up and I can move on and return to my blogs and other projects! Yeah.

I know this sounds bitchy and complaining, but I needed to vent. Thanks.

The Blogs:

Now that things are cleared up, I have decided to use the remainder of March to get blogs caught up. I am going to get back to projects starting April 1.

THIS IS A TRUE STORY and WHAT I WATCH I REVIEW will return on Thursday and Friday. I have not decided if I will try and catch up on the missed postings, or just go from here. I will make my decision and post it on Thursday or Friday with the new Blogs.

BURNING MIND: I will get caught up on my reviews for The Burning Mind at least. Most of what I had intended to review have been written, I just didn’t get around to posting. I will probably post all of them this week, and be caught up with my reviews by next Saturday. As for articles, I am not going to get caught up on them, just move forward.

WRESTLEMENTARY: This is the big Blog that has been neglected. I have done nothing with it in the last weeks. Every year around this time (Rumble to Mania) I plan to do a lot, and it hasn’t happened the last two years. Once again something popped up this year.

Well, I am going to do something starting tomorrow (Sunday). Every day this week I am going to post Road to WrestleMania Blogs. These will start tomorrow with a general recap of the RAWS and SMACKDOWNS I haven’t covered and thoughts on storylines so far. The road will continue as I will post a piece everyday breaking down each match on the card.

On Sunday, I will post my official predictions for the Card.

I will NOT cover TNA this week. Next week I will give my thought on TNA and get caught up. After that I will write about Lucha Underground – something I am really backed up on.

Okay, that’s it for now.

Later,

Ace.

A GOOD START TO 2016

Hello All,

Well, as I write this, it is the 31 of January, and this year is doing well so far. This past Wednesday was two years to the day I survived my Brain Aneurysm. This past Friday was two years to the date (1/29/2014).

How’d I spend this rather unwelcome anniversary? I went to not one but TWO local indie wrestling events and spend time with good friends. In other words, LIVING LIFE.

January has been a very good month. One of the things I am really happy about is that I have gotten all my Blogs out on time! Well almost, this weekend’s Burning Mind Review was a day late (http://skullablaze.blogspot.com/2016/01/burning-mind-review-hinges-book-1.html), and Wrestlementary WrapUp for Week 4 will be late this week, on Monday or Tuesday.

Now, I just need more people to read them!

I didn’t quite get everything I wanted to get done this month, but I am extremely pleased with everything I did get done. Which included returning to writing as often as I can, not just my blogs, but also my novel The Book of Sven Vaunder.

Hope all is well for everyone.

Be good.

2016 - The Year I Am Back!!

Ok, I am going to get this out of the way first:

THE STATE OF THE MASTER IS
MASTERIFFIC!!!

Yes, I know that isn’t a word, but it is now.

Now I want to wish everyone who reads this
HAPPY NEW YEAR!

This is obviously my first blog post of the New Year, and my first blog of any sort in a few months. The State of the Master Blog was always planned to be every two weeks, and on a Sunday. I decided to jump the gun for this post, with this being the first and all.

I also plan to try and keep to the every two week schedule, but don’t be surprised if I don’t.

With this post I want to state my first and biggest intentions for 2016 – which is for it to be a good year. O:-)

2014 and 2015 weren’t overly kind. 2014 was derailed by my aneurysm, and 2015 derailed by injuries to myself and my mother. So I am looking for to a health problem-injury-free 2016.

Because of the aneurysm, I took 2015 off from projects by request of my mother and advice of my doctor, after my last angiogram in September 2014. Both just wanted to give me another full year to be sure of my recovery. And my recovery is FOR SURE!

2016 is my year to get back on track. I doubt I will film anything this year, but it might happen. My focus is going to be on my writing, with a lesser degree on art. I plan on finishing some projects, editing and polishing off others and submitting out tons of short stories and comic book projects.

One major goal this year is to prep projects and business plans, with the idea to start looking for investors in 2017.

No matter what happens, I am going to make 2016 a great year.

Ace Masters.

HEY YO

Hey Yo,

I hope everyone out there is good. I am . . . something, still trying to figure out what. I am having an odd but somewhat good year so far, but that it normal for me.

My social media life has been here and there this year. I have had long stretches of activity, then I suddenly go quiet. Again, sorta par for the course for me.

My life has always been this way, just as I get things going, or get caught up, LIFE interferes. It’s has a bad habit of doing that.

At the end of March I was all caught up, my blogs were on time, I was getting more active, then BANG Life interferes again. Only this time it wasn’t something that happened to me. It was also something that I couldn’t ignore and had to deal with. If I didn’t, well I’d just be a piece of shit.

On April 2 my mother fell and badly hurt her foot. She is not that old (early ‘60’s) and is in good shape, but still, she hurt her foot pretty bad. Bad enough that we went for a trip to emergency. Initially we were told it was a high grade 1st degree sprain, then an idiot misread an MRI and diagnosed her with a broken foot.

Long story short, she never had a broken foot, but badly sprained and pulled the muscles in her foot. She spent a week unable to walk, and we didn’t work for three weeks. I put things on hold to take care of her and allow her foot to heal. Which it is doing at a nice pace.

I couldn’t do anything less then take care of her during this time, not after who she looked after me with my aneurysm last year.

Now that things are better, I plan on getting back on track with projects and blogs this Monday, June 1.

I have not yet made up my mind if I am going to do catch-up on my blogs like I did before, or just start fresh.

Anyway, good news is my mom is getting better and her foot is healing.

Now, personally, I just need to get my ass in gear. Even though I have recovered from my aneurysm, I having some issues with get-up-and-go. I need to get back into shape and lose a few inches and pounds, and I really need to get back into writing and filmmaking.

Later.

Tuesday, March 3, 2015

Welcome All, to the newest State of the Master Blog.

First thing, first. A lot of people have asked me about my health. I am doing great. I have been a little sick lately and my shoulder is still injured, but I have no lingering effects from the aneurysm. It is now over a year and all is good!

So far, this year has been good as well, except for the fact that I am well behind in stuff I wanted to have done by now. There are really two reasons for this. One is the fact that I have undertaken a massive personal project that is taking quite some time. Something I am hoping to be finished with this week.

This is something that should have been done years ago, but is being done now.
The other reason is just a lack of focus on getting stuff done. I had to slow done for my recovery in ALL of 2014, I was unable to do a lot of things, and was under doctor orders NOT to do things (such as lift weights). I have gotten so used to the recovery phase of my life that I am not getting things done like I used to.

But that too will change, for the better.

This week I am going to start getting caught up – with a focus on my online blogs and presence. I have gotten behind on Wrestlementary, The Burning Mind, True Story and What I Watch. This week and next week I plan on getting these caught up and back on track.

With everything that happen last year, I look at it this way, if the only real issue I have is being behind on plan, then life is GOOD.

Ace Masters.
